Nintendo Wii Review
The Nintendo Wii is distinct from any kind of gaming system you’ve ever tried before. It doesn’t possess the processing capability of the PS3 or Xbox 360, as a result the graphics will not even match up to those units. There isn’t a disk drive for storage and you can not play CDs or DVDs on it. It does not have the standard gamepad with loads of control buttons and joysticks either. Still, since its release in 2006, the Wii has regularly sold more copies than its competitors and is usually sold out in most retail stores. There are numerous game titles available to buy, or you can rent Wii games online. Alright, so what makes the Wii very popular without having all the fancy portions of the PS3 and Xbox 360?
Easy…It’s just plain fun!
The Wii controller looks more like a remote control you’d utilize for your TV rather than a typical looking gamepad control. It uses movement sensing technology that lets you keep control of the actions on the screen by moving the remote. If you are playing tennis you’d move the remote controller exactly like a tennis racket to strike the tennis ball rather than only depressing a control button.
There is also a Nunchuk that can be coupled to the Wii remote control for video game titles that require both game controllers. The Nunchuk has similar motion sensing technology and has a joystick and 2 buttons on it. You would need to use both the Wii remote control and the Nunchuk for a video game like Punch-Out, for which you need to punch using your right and left hand. You could feel just a little silly swinging these remotes all over to begin with, but you are likely to swiftly rise above it when you see how much enjoyment it contributes to playing video games.
Wii Sports comes provided with the Wii and is an ideal introduction to using the movement sensing remotes. With Wii Sports you’ll be able to have fun with Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling, and Boxing. You’ll learn the ins and outs of the remote as you swing your tennis racket, baseball bat or golf club, roll the bowling ball right down the alley, or jab and uppercut your opponent. There is even a guidance function in order to develop your talent before taking on the computer or your pals in a real game. The Wii keeps a record of how you are performing allowing you to see your gains. The better you get, the more challenging the game becomes. The video game allows 4 people, so the whole household can get together and have a great time.
The Wii can be connected to the internet wirelessly through your high speed broadband Wi-Fi hookup. In order to hook up with a cabled connection, you’ll need the Wii Lan Adapter (for sale seperately). When connected, you will be able to play online multi-player games with your family and friends, conveniently down load Wii console updates, and access the variety of channels with the Wii Menu including the Wii Shop Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, or the Internet Channel.
Naturally the Wii would not be complete with out all of your popular vintage Nintendo characters. You will find them all in video game titles like Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Punch-Out!!, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. If you loved playing previous versions of those video games, wait till you try them on the Wii!
As you can tell the Wii has quite a lot to consider in a video game console. The Wii can provide hours and hours of entertainment for you and your family. Look for a great video game rental service that includes Wii video game titles to get the most out of your Wii. It’s not as stylish as the PS3 or Xbox 360, but it’s every bit as exhilarating and a whole lot cheaper also.
